Hello friends

Everyone deserves to feel the freedom and confidence of healthy movement. My mission is to show you how to move safely and well. My aim is to give you knowledge and tools that help you create and maintain your strength, balance and freedom.

Meet Melita

Growing up in Sydney's East, my Summers were filled with weekends at the beach, enjoying the waves and probably too much sun. When the beach didn’t call, I could be found ice skating, roller skating, eating gelato and listening to disco music, dressed in oversized brightly-coloured tee shirts paired with equally as bright shiny tights. A true child of the '70s!

In my teens I loved photography. I spent hours clicking away with my camera then watch the magic happen, whilst developing and printing the work in my darkroom at home.

On completion of high school, I studied graphic design. The first job I landed was the position of junior panel artist at a poker machine factory. Yes; such a job existed. It was fascinating to have watched poker machines be designed, constructed, and assembled onsite at the factory. There were saws, drills, safety goggles and steel flying everywhere!

From poker machines, I went on to work in magazine design, as a Junior Designer at Modern Motor Magazine, Australian Consolidated Press. It was a great place start in publishing design. I continued working in that field for 10 years art directing high-end magazines. These included women’s fashion, men’s fashion, bridal, teen culture, craft, and weekly magazines.

During a stint in Melbourne, amongst the cafes, art, and music scene, I joined the art department of renowned Australian record company, Mushroom Records. Working in a fast-paced, exciting environment with music playing all day was definitely my jam.

As a fan of food, eating and cooking, I completed an Advanced Certificate of Business Catering Operations in Sydney. I worked in food preparation for various cafes. A fabulous offering arose, to travel Australia in the catering team for international rock band U2 and their road crew, during their 1992 Zooropa world tour. Catering for rock bands was another exhilarating experience; as you might have guessed, I love music!

A friend introduced me to yoga in my 20s. I attended various classes of different styles over the years, but it wasn't until a knee injury followed by surgery, that I revisited the practice of Yoga. It was significantly helpful in regaining strength, not just from a post-operative perspective, but for the body as a whole. Along with the physical benefits, I discovered that yoga was helping me unravel built-up stress and anxiety I’d been carrying around for years.

I enrolled in yoga teacher training and started teaching straight away. I’ve since completed additional yoga training in areas of specialty. The more I study the more I want to know, which is a win win. It adds to my knowledge base and makes me a better teacher. Each training I've undertaken has provided me with distinctive skills. All my teachers offer something unique, and I am so grateful for the valuable knowledge and experiences. These teachings include Yoga anatomy, postures, Yoga philosophy, breathing techniques, relaxation methods, and the practice of seeing life through different lenses.

In 2020 I trained in the LYT™ Yoga Method, which was created by Physical Therapist, Lara Heimann. The Lyt Style altered the way I practice and now teach yoga. We focus on intelligent alignment, optimal posture, and sustainable movement. In-depth study of functional anatomy helped me realise the essential benefits of good posture. Ultimately, my mission is to show you how to move well, and to give you tools that help you create a yoga practice that gives you stability and freedom to move with ease and joy.
